Registerfly: "It's Over" .. but the Fat Lady still sings
As reported in Daily domainer ICANN has terminated Registerfly's accreditation. I contacted Kevin Medina last week to see if I could somehow buy the registrar with the view of helping the registrants (believe me, I do not want to run a troubled retail registrar for my health).. Anyway, he seemed quite confident that he was going to work through his problems and get back on track. The registrar has clients and registrations after all so the business has commercial value. ICANN has never previously de-accreditted a regsitrar.. so now that they've pulled the cred it's doubtful they will re-accredit.
Most regular web site owners do not read blogs like mine or domain forums, so I am willing to bet most Registerfly registrants are blissfully unaware of this situation at all (in fact I bet you alot of them don't even remember they are registered with Registerfly). I hope ICANN and the Registries have a lifeboat registrar in que to move these registrations to. Taking a registrar's cred is like invading another Country... you need to be ready to deal with the refugees. Right now, most of the refugees are still unaware of the invasion.
Does ICANN have a protocol established for dealing with the de-certification of a registrar?
It is a shame that they would not sell to you to assist in a clean-up process.
Also, what if this were to happen to a registry service? With the push of new gTLDs this could happen in the very near future.
***FS*** I think there would be others interested in the 'business' that remains there, but for economic reasons. Trying to make money with the registration base.. which has value to other retail registrars. Thats a very good question re registry service.. Can you imagine the regsitry imploding?

Actually....
It may happen sooner rather than later ... after digging a bit...
http://gigagamez.com/2007/03/13/game-mags-gone-because-of-myspace-spam/
Myspace suing theglobe.com for spamming users.
http://www.theglobe.com/ -> happens to be the parent of The Tralliance Corporation
which operates .travel
what happens when/if theglobe implodes as a result of the myspace suit?
