...like buying a (young) child a share of stock in a company to get them paying attention to the stock (and other financial) markets...but (in most cases) far more affordable...and virtually certain to be far, far more important and valuable to the child in the years and decades to follow...

They could do a comical ad campaign built around the poor children who were named something terrible because all of the baby name options were taken in .com
"Don't name your child before making sure you can buy the .com
Come to godaddy BEFORE you name your child :)

Another reason why the Fabulous aftermarket concept is so great.
People will be coming looking for names, and now names that otherwise might not ever be found will be easy to engage.
