My personal take is that develop'ning' can be a 'biach' ... Sorry .. couldn't resist. ;)
Thanks for the link, Frank. As you know, I enjoy looking at different domain development approaches :) Especially large scale development across many different domains can be quite challenging -> see Marchex.

The Ning platform has potential but can be slow at times, it's still developing. They also charge $20/month for you to include your Adsense code on the right side, or else they insert their own. So if you can build a large enough community or get lots of traffic, it can be worth it.
