Com sites have more organic traffic so could it be that they can afford to hold out for full price vs their CCtld peers who ave to sweat for each unique visit? ;) Or perhaps dot com retailers are gradually becoming the Rodeo drive of the web.. They don't have to discount because it's the prefered shopping stroll. Whether by coincidence or design - this is good for all domain extensions.
